As a child, one has that magical capacity to move among the many eras of the earth; to see the land as an animal does; to experience the sky from the perspective of a flower or a bee; to feel the earth quiver and breathe beneath us; to know a hundred different smells of mud and listen unselfconsciously to the soughing of the trees.” -Valerie Andrews, A Passion for this Earth
The staff, families and children at the Buderim Kindergarten value the intrinsic importance of outdoor play. We have created a Winter Garden for our children to enjoy the warm winter sunshine and continue the exploration of nature and play. Our Winter Garden, which has been designed with the assistance of the award winning Urban Food Street creators, is a space planned to encourage sustainability and sensory exploration and learning through organic experience.
As a result of the work of the 2015,16 and 2017 management committee and the assistance of our parents through working bees, we have created a space that will entice any child. We have erected a storage shed, shade awning, a mud kitchen and landscaped herb and vegetable gardens.
This would not have all been possible without the funding from our community partner, The Buderim Foundation. We would also like to thank the Sunshine Coast Council, Queensland Government, Coles Junior LandCare and Steve Dickson MP for their financial support.
Another big Thank You to the Buderim Foundation for their financial support to enable us to add outdoor lighting to our grounds and carpark!
